Calgary Care Village

More than a resource fair. A festival bringing housed and unhoused Calgarians together.

Formerly the Calgary Pop-Up Care Village

A festival for our whole community.

The Calgary Care Village is an annual summer festival that brings together dozens of community organizations, volunteers, and hundreds of Calgarians from different walks of life.

We combine free health and social services, live music, cultural performances, and recreational activities to create a welcoming space where people can access practical resources, enjoy themselves, and connect with others, regardless of their living circumstances.

  1. 2022–2024

    Olympic Plaza.

    The first Calgary Pop-Up Care Village took place on September 27, 2022, at Olympic Plaza.

    What began as a one-stop shop for homelessness-serving organizations grew into an annual gathering that brought together healthcare providers, social service agencies, volunteers, and community members.

    Over these three years, we learned that the Care Village was about more than access to resources. Guests also valued the music, entertainment, and opportunities to connect with others in a welcoming environment.

  2. 2025–2026

    Central Memorial Park.

    In 2025, we moved the Care Village to Central Memorial Park, where we continued developing the event into a community festival.

    While essential services remained an important part of the Care Village, we placed greater emphasis on arts, recreation, entertainment, and creating opportunities for housed and unhoused Calgarians to interact.

    The move reflected our growing understanding of what the Care Village could become: not simply a place to receive services, but a place to spend time together and build relationships.

  3. 2027 and beyond

    A new chapter.

    Beginning in 2027, the Calgary Care Village will be planned and delivered by participants of the Care Village Fellowship, an eight-month experiential leadership program for young Calgarians.

    With mentorship and support from community partners, fellows will take the lead in shaping the festival, engaging organizations, coordinating volunteers, and creating experiences that bring people together across differences.

    Our goal is to continue improving the Care Village while preparing the next generation of community leaders.

Join our community partner team! Each year, we bring together dozens of organizations providing healthcare, social services, basic necessities, arts, recreation, and other community supports.

We welcome organizations interested in hosting a booth, offering services, or contributing activities to the festival.
